Ministries

Find out how to get more involved at our church by plugging into all of our various ministries.

Lampeter United Methodist Church has an emergency food relief available with the LUMC food cupboard located at the church facility on the corner of Book and Village Road. It was designed to assist with supplying individuals or families with some groceries when a sudden unexpected need arises.

“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” Matthew 25:35

The LUMC Children and Youth Ministry program  is designed to give all children a foundational knowledge of who God is and how He wants to be a part of their life.  That’s why we create space through various outreaches to grow in their relationship with Him and take what they learn with them wherever they go during the week.
Our Programs include Youth Group, Kids’ Club, Junior Church, Nursery Care, and various community outreach events!

Congregational Care and Support

The Lampeter United Methodist Church has a vibrant ministry called Congregational Care and Support where many of our members volunteer to care for one another with compassion and love.  We reach out to those who are lonely, sick, and suffering with our Lord’s comfort as we are commanded in 2 Corinthians 1:4- “who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

We reach out to those who may just need to be uplifted and encouraged in their walk with Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:11- “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Our Congregational Care and Support team has fivemain areas we focus on:  Home Bound Visitation, Home Communion, Card Ministry, Meal Ministry, and Prayer Chain Ministry.  If you are interested in serving on any of these ministry teams, please contact the chairperson Jim Martz at Lampeter United Methodist Church.

Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members - called Stephen Ministers - to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties. Stephen Ministry has been involved here at Lampeter United Methodist Church since February of 2014. At this time, we have five Stephen Ministers here: Larry Dunlap, Charlene Metzler, Ann Gilpin, Harran Williams and Bev Groff. Bev is the Stephen Leader for the group.

Some possible situations for Stephen Ministers to provide care to those in need are: grief, health issues, personal crisis, divorce, terminal illness/end of life issues, spiritual crisis, caregiver for a loved one and financial difficulties / job loss

Adult Ministries offers a variety of opportunities for us to grow together in our knowledge and love of Jesus Christ, and equip us to live our faith. Our Sunday morning discipleship classes cover many different topics relevant to our daily life. Pastor John’s Wednesday morning Bible study is always thought-provoking and includes great discussion. We sometimes have short-term evening studies on a particular topic of interest.

No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, you are welcome to join us as we grow together as Jesus’ disciples.

Evangelism and Church Growth Ministries provide opportunities to reach and inform both the members of the Church and of the Community the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our team creates a welcoming environment to all visitors and members allowing us to promote the many events and programs of the Church by the way of its website and other social media.

The Outreach and Social Witness Ministry seeks to share the good news of God’s love with the community and the world. The Outreach and Social Witness Ministry at LUMC will do this by planning and carrying out community events to bring people together and assist in addressing poverty and food insecurity. Jesus told his followers to “go out and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19-20), and this ministry intends to do just that.
